Dear Sirs,
here is the report on activity of Polish – Indian Chamber of Commerce in 2009. We hope we did not pass over any important event or fact during preparing this summary. Although the Chamber has formally operated since March 2009, the number of accomplished statutory actions turned out to be significant and so they are stimulating us to obtain even better results in 2010. The plan being prepared now for 2010 consists of more than one hundred priority points. It will not run out of business events or mixers, economic missions to India and other attractive occasions to initiate or improve the level of business and of course we will not forget about one of the most important of our daily actions which is a relentless process of searching for business partners for the Chamber members.

The summary on Polish - Indian Chamber of Commerce activity in 2009
1. We set up a fully professional PIIC website covering the following subject areas:
- information on the Chamber,
- geographical and historical information on India,
- daily up-dated news from Poland and India,
- ”Article of the week” section, which has been then changed into "Article of the month",
- journalism,
- business zone section – an open source of information regarding fair shows in Poland and India, quotations in both countries etc.,
- Indian zone section – a full guide for those interested in Indian market regulations, containing information on economy, industry branches and services, as well as legal information and business etiquette, prepared in cooperation with Trade and Investment Promotion Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi,
- India culture guide,
- advertisement section – an opportunity for companies to place advertisements,
2. Website positioning at the top of search engine results,
3. We set up a Chamber website in English containing:
- information on the Chamber and its activity,
- a reliable guide and source of information on Poland, its market and culture as well
as Polish law regulations,
- information for potential business and contents partners,
- zones: business and culture, analogous to Polish version,
4. Chamber authorities organized a fully-fledged office space to provide good working conditions and an appropriate image of the organization during receiving foreign guests and partners,
5. There were prepared advertising materials for the need of the marketing section of the Chamber - brochures, leashes, roll-ups, CDs with a micro-presentation of the Indo – Polish business forum with the participation of the President of the Republic of India – Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, etc.
6. There was worked out an accurate guide for Indian companies entering Polish market of agricultural machinery (i.e. for Mahindra & Machindra),
7. We compiled the first catalogue of Polish - Indian Chamber of Commerce, consisting of detailed information on the Chamber activity and its members as well as covering plans for the year 2010,
8. It was initially decided to cooperate with Solid Logistics company (a founding member of PIIC) regarding distribution of the catalogue in India and Poland,
9. From the very beginning we cooperated tightly with Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Poland, which fostered the Chamber’s activity on the Indian market, in government and non-government structures in Poland,
10. The Chamber was registered on the application of Polish Chamber of Commerce. According to the statute, Polish – Indian Chamber of Commerce has been delegated on behalf of Polish Chamber of Commerce as the only bilateral Polish – Indian chamber to represent business relations,
11. On the request of Minister of Economy of the Republic of Poland the Chamber prepared a summary on Polish – Indian trade relations which is an essential element of the Prime Minister Donald Tusk’s official visit to India in the half of 2010,
12. Together with Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Poland and Polish Chamber of Commerce it was organized an Indo – Polish business forum with participation of the President of the Republic of India Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil, which resulted in initiating economic cooperation with Indian partners,
13. There was started a tight collaboration with business subsidiary of the British University – Coventry University Enterprises Ltd. and European Business and Technology Centre (EBTC) in order to organize a trade mission of the companies representing energy sector to India in March 2010,
14. In Polish daily newspaper “Puls Biznesu” there was placed an article on the above-mentioned trade mission of companies from energy sector,
15. The Chamber has been invited as a guest to the Economic Congress “How to help economy overcome the crisis” and it was awarded with E. Kwiatkowski Prize ”Entrepreneurship” for its involvement in development of Polish economy and obtained a thanking letter from the contemporary Secretary of State in Ministry of Economy, Mr. Adam Szejnfeld,
16. The Chamber also took part in Economic Forum of Poznan Agglomeration, where its representatives fostered Chamber’s initiated activity and PIIC members,
17. The Chamber took part in other numerous events, for example in those prepared by PAIiIZ (Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency) and Poland Monthly, 20-year anniversary of Confederation of Polish Employees, and moreover in forum organized by PARP (Polish Agency for Enterprise Development) for bilateral chambers and diplomatic representatives,
18. The Chamber representatives participated in various business mixers and trade shows,
19. PIIC obtained a congratulatory letter from Deputy Prime Minister, Mr. Waldemar Pawlak,
20. The Chamber decided to go into partnership with World Trade Center Poznan for example in organizing trade missions to India in March 2010,
21. It was initiated a cooperation with World Trade Centre Mumbai – the Chamber received a delegation from WTC Mumbai and All India Association of Industries in PIIC headquarters in Poznan,
22. There were started negotiations concerning the access to databases of resilient Indian companies associated in WTC and AIAi,
23. The Chamber was invited by Ministry of Treasure, Mr. Aleksander Grad to co-organize the privatisation platform of Polish enterprises,
24. New strong entities joined the Chamber, i.e. Bumar, Delhi Interexports Pvt. LTD, Biozym, Marat Rybnik,
25. Some contacts had been resumed and, as a result, companies which submitted their filled-in membership declarations before the founding meeting (but due to any reasons could not attend it and formally did not become founder members) were invited to become members.
26. Chamber’s representatives conducted direct discussions with Indian contractors representing pressure mechanics and chemical industry, i.e. for the following companies: NOVOL, SM Jana, SM Lazur, TB Hydro, Jeremy, SKW, Fugo S.A.,
27. Cooperation offers with Chamber members were sent to about 500 Polish and Indian entities,
28. We regularly circulated information on tenders to those of Chamber members, whose profiles satisfy requirements given in tender information,
29. We sent e-mails to the Chamber members containing economic information and data regarding their activity,
30. There were held discussions resulted in starting a cooperation with Indian business organizations:
- The Associated Chambers of Commerce and Industry of India ASSOCHAM,
- Calcutta Chamber,
- Rajasthan Chamber of Commerce & Industry,
- Bombay Chamber of Commerce & Industry,
- All India Association of Industries,
- Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry,
31. We initiated a tight cooperation with Marshall’s Office of Wielkopolskie Voivodeship,
32. Within the framework of cooperation with Marshall’s Office of Wielkopolskie Voivodeship, the Chamber thematically looked for companies to take part in economic mission India organized by Marshall’s Office in January 2010, which helped appoint companies including Chamber members,
33. The Chamber started cooperating with Future Value Group – a company offering services connected with European Union subsidies on preferential conditions to Chamber members,
34. Together with consultants from many different sectors, PIIC carried out a range of trainings granted by the European Union, which are planned to start in 2010,
35. At the end of 2009 the Chamber initiated a cooperation with Business Centre Club (BCC) - Loza Czestochowska,
36. The Chamber started cooperating with Polish business chambers
- Polish Chamber of Commerce of Exporters Importers and Co-operation,
- Polish Economic Chamber of Renewable Energy (PIGEO),
- Polish Chamber of Power Industry and Environment Protection,
- Wielkopolska Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WIPH),
- Polish Chamber of Commerce for Electronics and Telecommunication (KIGEIT),
-Polish Chamber of Agricultural Machines and Facilities,
37. We offered a cooperation with diverse business chambers in Poland and India,
38. The Chamber initiated a cooperation with Polish Agency for Enterprise Development (PARP),
39. PIIC opened a cooperation line with Poznan City Council by carrying out projects in 2010,
40. The Chamber agreed on a common ground with various self-government organizations and Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIiIZ),
41. The Chamber permanently gets in touch with Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi, Consulate of the Republic of Poland in Mumbai as well as with Embassy of the Republic of India in Warsaw,
42. In the framework of a tight cooperation and information exchange the Chamber is relentlessly collaborating with Trade and Investment Promotion Section of the Embassy of the Republic of Poland in New Delhi,
43. In accordance to the trade mission to India to take place in March 2010, we initiated a contact and cooperation with Prof. Bogdan Marciniec, a prominent scientist, a creator of the first technological parks in Poland,
44. The Chamber holds talks relating technological exchange with universities and research units, i.e.:
- Science and Technology Park,
- Bełchatowsko – Kleszczowski Industrial and Technological Park Sp. z o. o.,
- Institute for Chemical Processing of Coal,
- Industrial Park Euro - Centrum,
- Nadwiślański Renewable Energy Cluster,
- Kwidzyński Industrial - Technological Park ,
- Silesian University of Technology,
- AGH University of Science and Technology,
45. We initiated a cooperation with managing body of Ernst&Young in Poland and agreed on a joint organization line of events promoting the Chamber, its members and Indian – Polish trade exchange,
46. The Chamber cooperates with Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland,
47. The Chamber cooperator’s is an English-language publishing house Polish Market,
48. We initiated a contact with Voivodeship Office of Wielkopolska,
49. Together with Coventry University, EBTC and WTC Poznan, the Chamber prepared a workshop on India with participation of companies chosen from energy sector, Marshall’s Office of Wielkopolskie Voivodeship, Poznan City Council, partners and enthusiasts of PIIC who support its activity,
50. The Chamber started a cooperation with Polish Chamber of Exhibition Industry,
51. The Chamber cooperates with specialists representing various branches. We also decided on collaboration with Ms. Aleksandra Jaskólska – a publicist and expert in terms of Indian subject-matter, whose articles of the month are a source of interesting facts on politics, economy and Indian culture.
