Idea
of establishing Polish - Indian Chamber of Commerce

 
     The idea to establish Polish – Indian Chamber of Commerce (PIIG) arose in the end of 2007 on the initiative of a group of people associated with Polish and Indian business who paid attention to the volatile situation on the promising Polish and Indian markets. The first high-level discussions among Polish and Indian business entities took place in May 2008. Partners who participated in the initial negotiations are as follows:

- World Trade Center Poznań
- Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FICCI),
- Confederation of Indian Industry (CII),
- NASSCOM in India,
- Polish Business Roundtable,
- Business Centre Club (BCC),
- Confederation of Private Employers Lewiatan,
- Polish Information and Foreign Investment Agency (PAIZ),
- Ministry of Economy of the Republic of Poland,
- Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland (MSZ),
- Marshal Offices of the following voivodeships: Greater Poland Voivodeship, Silesian Voivodeship, Pomeranian Voivodeship, Łódź Voivodeship,
- Presidents of the following cities: Poznań, Warszawa, Katowice, Kraków, Łódź, Szczecin, Gdańsk, Września,
- Embassy of the Republic of India in Poland,

Chamber's
Mission

     Polish - Indian Chamber of Commerce has undertaken to  develop business cooperation among Polish and Indian companies.

     The objective of the Chamber is to intensify and enhance business relations among companies in Poland and India, encourage both sides to take joint action and exchange business experiences. Taking into account significant cultural differences between India and Poland, the Chamber acts as a platform for cultural exchange.

     PICC has become a serious and valuable source of information for Polish and Indian entities on lifting trade and investment barriers.




Founding
meeting - September 17, 2008.

     On September 17, 2008 took place a founding meeting of Polish-Indian Chamber of Commerce in the building of World Trade Center in Poznan. About one hundred entrepreneurs arrived from Poland and India to take part in this spectacular meeting.

     The solemn part of the event started at 2 PM with the  speech given by Secretary of State in Chancellery of Prime Minister of Poland Mr. Eugeniusz Grzeszczak, who warmly welcomed  the initiative of establishing the Chamber. Thanks to efforts made by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Economy Mr. Waldemar Pawlak and Mr. Eugeniusz Grzeszczak’s involvement as well as entrepreneurs’ interest, we realized how necessary it is to build the structure which would tighten and support Polish-Indian business relations. During the meeting it was read a congratulatory letter from Indian Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Mr. Kamal Nath with greetings and best wishes for success for Polish – Indian Chamber of Commerce.

     At the Founding General Meeting a resolution to establish Polish – Indian Chamber of Commerce was passed. The Statute of the Chamber as well the Council of the Chamber, the Board and the Board of Audit were elected. Mr. Aleksander Jóskowiak, a barrister and one of the initiators was appointed Chairman of the Council. Mr. Maciej Suszek, Secretary of State Adviser in Chancellery of Prime Minister of Poland assumed the position of Vice Chairman of the Chamber. Mr. Jabłoński was elected President while Mr. Ryszard Sznajder, a former long time ambassador’s advisor in India, was appointed Vice President. Two Indian businessmen also entered into the composition of the Board.
